Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. Leo is survived by his three brothers, Wayne (Kathy) VanDerHulst, Paul (Bonnie) VanDerHulst and Randy (Barb) VanDerHulst his sister, Joan (Mike) VanderKooi and his best friend for over 60 years, John Denuyl. His enthusiasm for life made Leo a great person to be around. If he wasn’t tinkering with tools, he enjoyed fishing, especially in the Gulf of Mexico. He was able to help out friends and family alike with his mechanical abilities. Leo worked as a mechanic most of his life, though, since he loved it so much and was very talented at it, it never seemed like work. Born March 3, 1941, in Holland, Michigan, he was the son of the late Albert and Alyda (Grotenhuis) VanDerHulst. Leo VanDerHulst, 81 of Holland, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, Augat Appledorn Assisted Living South in Holland, Michigan. Chappell Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
